Description
Honeyvine Milkweed is a very fast growing vining milkweed that can quickly climb 15′ up into the trees. Because of this fast growth it’s considered aggressive and best grown in a location that can be maintained and seeds captured. However, in the regions that get freezing winters, the vines die back to the ground and restart each Spring. Perfect for creating summer shade. Large heart shaped leaves with small white blooms. Deliciously sweet smelling and attracts many pollinators. It is a Monarch host plant but has very low poison content so it’s safer around pets, livestock and children.
Seeds can be started in milk jugs, or cold stratified for 4+ weeks in the fridge and direct sown in the spring or started indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost.
Native to most of the Eastern US.
