Blue Tweedia milkweed seeds, Tweedia caerulea. Formerly known as Oxypetalum caeruleum. Seeds are hand collected, cleaned and dried. Ready to sow when ground temperatures are above 65 dg. Seeds harvested from plants grown in my Elizabethtown PA gardens. Always free of pesticides and chemicals.
Description
Tweedia caerulea is known by many names. Blue Milkweed, Blue Tweedia, Southern Star & Star of Argentina to name a few. Formerly known Oxypetalum caeruleum, even the genus and species names have changed over the years.
Plant Description: A tropical native vine grows as an annual in cold regions. Star shaped blue to pink flowers form at the ends of the short vining branches. Fuzzy stems and leaves. It’s not an impressive vine but can grow 1-3 feet tall. Good container plant. Flower color may be influenced by the soil acidity. More acidic = darker blue. More alkaline = sky blue to pinkish.
Instructions: Soak seeds in warm water for 2 days. Then pour out onto soil. Keep moist & warm until fully germinated. Use a seed heat mat if starting indoors. Prefers full sun. Keep roots moist but not soggy.
