Description
Aquatic Milkweed, A. perennis is a beautiful south eastern perennial with delicate white flowers. Grows 1’-2’ tall. Does well in swamps and wetlands or along stream beds. Impossible to over-water. Shade tolerant. Blooms continuously. Perfectly suited to swamps and wetlands. Cold stratifying not necessary and doesn’t lead to higher germination rates.
Germinates well using the water method. Cold stratification is not needed.
Starting tips: Soak seeds at least 48 hrs. in warm water. Can be water germinated before planting. Or in a partly sunny location, surface-sow when the swampy ground warms above 65. Keep moist. For better results start indoors 6-8 weeks. prior to planting.
