Orange Mexican Sunflower Seeds, Tithonia rotundifolia. Hand collected and cleaned Seeds do not need cold stratified and are ready to plant when the ground has warmed. Harvested from plants grown in my front yard milkweed garden and used as an attractant and nectar plant. Always free of chemicals and sprays.

Description

Orange Mexican Sunflower seeds, Tithonia rotundifolia is a Mexican native. An annual in any region with freezing winters. It’s an amazing butterfly attractant and nectar plant. Brilliant orange flowers continue forming until a heavy freeze. Plants grow very quickly and fill a large space. Easily grow 4′- 7′ tall (Also available in Dwarf) with many branches. Can be trimmed to stay smaller. Drought tolerant once established due to a long tap root. A very low maintenance plant. Dried pods can be collected to have seeds for next year.

Sowing: When ground warms into the upper 60s and 70s, loosen soil and sow seeds, covering with 1/4″ of soil. Keep watered until germination is underway. Usually within 7-10 days. Can also be started indoors 6 weeks before planting outdoors.
